Cox Kids Foundation

As you probably know by now I work for Channel 4 here in San Diego...what you may not know is that our station is owned by Cox Communications.

Cox has a program called the Cox Kids Foundation that is a pretty cool program. Basically, employees agree to donate a small percentage of their paycheck (which the company matches) and at the end of the year we turn that into as many scholarships as we can. This year that number was 18 and on Friday I got to give them away.

The best part is who we give the money to. All of our recipients have overcome incredible obstacles just to have graduated high school and many are the first in their family to go to college. The scholarships aren't a full ride, just a few thousands dollars, but it's enough to give these kids a good start...and you get the feeling that's all that they need.
