Opening Day at the Track

Among baseball people it's commonly known that the real fans show up on day 2 of the season. Opening day is for all the people that want to be seen, and want to say that they were there. Those type of "fans" never bothered me much, maybe because that's exactly the type of "fan" I am of horse racing.

I don't know anything about training horses or who the jockey's are, and I certainly don't have a clue when it comes to betting on the fillies, but I do love opening day! Sure it's crowded and there's a line for everything, but it's also exciting. The energy at the track on opening day is just different. It's way more "party" and way less "degenerate gambler".

The best part are the outfits. People are dressed to the nines and everyone is wearing a hat...the more outlandish the better. It makes for great people watching but it's not so great for waiting in all those lines.

I guess that's what I get for only coming to the track on opening day.
