Drumline Live

If you're from the South then you probably have a pretty good idea of the precision, technique, and sheer athletic ability that go into a kick-ass drumline...but if you're like me, you don't.

Until today that is.

This afternoon I got a lesson in the finer points of playing percussion in a show style marching band...and it was awesome! Lucky for me Mr. Hagetor, my 5th grade band teacher, prepared me well for this afternoon. Okay, maybe "prepared" isn't the word, but at least I knew which end of the stick to hold (ding).

For those of you that saw the movie "Drumline" you know that it's all about moxie for these guys. Sure you have to be an amazing drummer but that's not enough, you've got to be a performer as well. And let me tell you, these guys were showman. In fact the guy two people from my right (your left) was Nick Cannon's drumming double in "Drumline". In other words these guys could perform.

In fact my only regret is that I didn't get to come back for the show tonight and see the entire cast have it. I'm certain that would have been amazing!
