Everybody plays the air guitar, it's safe...even cliche. But it takes a certain caliber of person to rock the air drums...a complete spazz. Don't get me wrong a good air drummer (and you're looking at two of them in this picture) is way more impressive and dynamic to watch then a good air guitarist.
The problem is the margin for error is much slimmer on the air drum kit. You get off beat even a little or miss a couple of symbol crashes and it just looks like you're swatting at imaginary bees. The other problem is that the air drums don't translate well to still photography.
Lesson learned.
