It has been a strange summer in Southern California this year, in fact we've really only had a few weeks of "summer" weather. The rest of the time it's been overcast and cloudy. That's too bad for a number of reasons, one of which is that it has seriously cut into the summer BBQ season.
One of the reasons I want to finish my backyard project so much is because I love sitting around outside with a group of good friends enjoying a tasty meal. Dinner parties are always a good time...you've got good wine, good food, and good company. But for some reason it always seems a little better during summer when you're doing it around an old rickety table in the yard.
Luckily we were able to squeeze all those elements into a fantastic night last night...and we didn't even have to clean up afterward. Perfect.
